Prussian/Hanoverian 78th “Waterloo” Infantry Regiment Officers Pickelhaube with numbered field cover. Fine untouched helmet with a black lacquered leather helmet body and gold trim. Helmet body in excellent - near mint- form and shape with firm stitching to both visors. Slightly enlarged hole in helmet body (we didi not remove the plate as it is an exact fit and sticks to helmet body!). Original fixtures and nuts. Interior iner is the leather sweatband and silk type for officers. Liner is complete and still supple. Inside visor lined in green and red as appropriate for officers.

The helmet front plate is the fire gilt Prussian Line Eagle with the banner “Waterloo” awarded to this regiment for services in the Kings German Legion during the Napoleonic wars. The helmet plate is stamped in two pieces (Eagle & Bandeau) as it should be. Tall fire gilt spike and base with star retainers. Flat gold chinscales maintained by rosettes over a set of Officers Reichs and Prussian Cockades. The Field cover is 100% genuine to this helmet. Numbered appropriately "78" in red dating the helmet prior to August 15, 1914 when the numbers became "Green". Red Manoeuvre band inside. Beautiful helmet in fantastic condition.
