Prussian Landwehr Infantry Enlisted Pickelhaube with Field Cover

Prussian Line Infantry Landwehr Regiments Enlisted Man Model 1895 with Landwehr Field Cover. From and old collection. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with brass trim. The helmet body has good form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in very fine condition. Brass back visor is dented (see photos). The interior of the helmet has standard leather leather tongued headliner. The headliner shows age and wear but is complete and the leather is still supple. The inner visors of helmet have no legible markings. No extra holes in the helmet body.

The front plate is the standard Prussian Landwehr Regiments heraldic eagle without banner and with a silver reserve cross in the center (see photos). The frontplate has a repair to the scepter (see photos front and back) that is not apparant from the front. It is held to the helmet by loops on the back of the plate and leather wedges. Enlisted style base with spike top. The spike is not removable. The top is held to helmet body with domed retainers. Original leather chinstrap fitted over M91 side lugs. Original stamped Reichs and Prussian cockades. This helmet is 100% original and untouched.

Grouping includes a mint EM style field cover (see Photos) that is secured to the helmet body with 3 metal hooks in front and 2 in back. The cloth is a fine cloth with soft divergent colors with a Green cloth iron cross in the front (see close up photos). Inside the cloth cover are the ink stamps "Hamburg 1914" and "6". It is extremely rare to find a Landwehr field cover attached to a Landwehr helmet. Outstanding ensemble.
