French Cuirassier Officer Model 1825 Modified 1830
Beautiful Helmet - Near 200 years old!
Beautiful Silvered Cooper body with some minor dings. Helmet shows the original Silvering finish that has tarnished but not been cleaned. Front and back visor in silver with gold trim. The front visor has two small holes on each side. The front "Bandeau" in the massive Gold Frosted Flaming Grenade surounded by Laurel and Oak leaves.
The Cimier is also in gold frosted brass and remains in perfect condition and gilding. The front of cimier shows the antique "Medusa Head" over the "Palmettes". The original Officers plume holder on the left side of the helmet. The top of the cimier has a replacement horsehair Brush and Mane in perfect condition. An Officer "Marmouset" in gilt brass with red horsehair completes the cimier.
A pair of Officers grade gilt chin chains maintained by gilt rosettes. The Inside lining show age and minor wear and is of full Officers Grade with the Gilt Decorations "au Fer" surounding each of the 9 fingers or tongs. Remains of thin leather lining to both visors inside. In general a beautiful piece of headgear in the style of the Monarchie de Juillet - Louis Philippe.
