Prussian 7th Grenadier Officer Pickelhaube

All original and extremely rare helmet

Prussian 7th Grenadier Regiment (regiment Koenig Wilhelm1 - 2nd West Prussian Grenadier Regt) Officer helmet Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection.  Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilded brass trim. The helmet body is in good condition with firm stitching. Exterior lacquer in good overall condition wtih light age related crazing (see photos). The helmet has 2 widened holes that were probably done when the frontplate was re-issued in 1897. The frontplate has left deep impression in leather (see photo).

The helmet interior has a fine sweat leather and silk headliner. Interior visors colored red and green as in normal with officer helmets. Beautifully fire gilded frontplate is the Prussian wide winged Grenadier Eagle with the banner "22 Marz 1797” that commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kairser Wilhelm I. The helmet has a round spike base, with officer pearl ring and star retainers with a removable spike. Officer style back spine.  Flat chinscales with special WR rosettes (see photos). Officer Reich and Prussian cockades. All original and extremely rare regimental helmet.
