Bavarian Infantry Leib-Regiment Pickelhaube

Bavarian Leib Infantry - Officer Model – Model 1886-9797. From a distinguished American Collection. Fine leather helmet body and with squared front visor and all silver metal trim. Black lacquered leather helmet has fine form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Helmet exterior lacquer in good condition with age related crazing in lacquer. The helmet interior has sweat leather and typical older Bavarian blue silk headliner.
The helmet has a silver crossed spike base with officer pearl/diamond ornamentation at base of spike. Fluted spike top is not removable as the Leib Regiment did not wear a plume to parade. Silver stars retain cross base to helmet. The Frontplate is the early larger type silver Bavarian frontplate. Original set of flat silver chinscales with a silver officer rosette. Original officers Reichs and Bavarian cockades. Nice and impressive helmet from an Elite Bavarian regiment.
